Crocodiles in Agulu Lake

Agulu lake is located in Anambra state, which is in the southern part of Nigeria. It is said to be the home of over 300 crocodiles and water turtles. Fishing in the Agulu lake is strictly prohibited and the crocodiles are considered to be sacred animals. The story is that during the Nigerian civil war the crocodiles and turtles transformed themselves to beautiful ladies who then lured the soldiers into the lake. So these animals are seen as heroes of the land. The best times to see these crocodiles and turtles would be at noon when they come out to sunbathe.
