Usain Bolt Hosts Star Studded SunMet 2018 Event In South Africa.
Since the first official running of The Metropolitan Mile (shortened to ‘The Met’) in 1883, the event has been a highlight of the social calendar. Every year on the last Saturday in January, Africa’s richest horse race draws over 50 000 people to the Kenilworth Racecourse.
An important contest, The Sun Met puts South Africa’s top race horses on an even footing and features an honour roll which includes many of South Africa’s top race horses, such as Ariel, Pocket Power, Wolf Power, Model Man, Empress Club, London News and Horse Chestnut.
The true ability of thoroughbred race horses is measured by their innate speed, so it’s apt that the fastest human on the planet makes a star turn.
This year, January 27, 2018, Olympic sprinting legend Usain Bolt, took his turn in hosting the Sun Met, celebrated with GH Mumm Champagne, at Kenilworth racecourse in Cape Town.
At the announcement staged at the Grand Africa Cafe and Beach, excited Bolt beckoning fans, said: “Watch out – I’m on my way!”
The star studded and glamorous event brought together racing and fashion enthusiasts to celebrate and witness the thrill of the tracks. It was also an opportunity for fashionistas to shine, as the event was themed: ‘Style Ahead of the Field!’
